Auburn football legend Terry Beasley died of apparent suicide: report

Former Auburn star Terry Beasley died at the age of 73
Soon after the news that Auburn football legend Terry Beasley passed away at the age of 73, we appear to have an understanding of the cause of his death, as reports suggest that the former wide receiver apparently committed suicide.

Moedy (Ala.) 警察長レシー・スミスは、「Beasley was found deceased inside the residence from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound」と述べた. 「This case is still under investigation,” he stated, as AL.com reports.

Beasley played as a wide receiver for Auburn from 1969 to 1971, and during the Tigers’ 1971 football season, he earned unanimous All-American honors, catching passes from eventual Heisman Trophy winner Pat Sullivan.

In that 1971 campaign, Beasley caught 55 passes for 846 yards and scored 12 touchdowns as Auburn won over three top-10 ranked teams with a score of 9-2.

In 1970, Beasley had his best season, receiving 52 receptions for 1,051 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns, which earned him All-SEC honors. That year, Auburn beat Alabama 9-2.

With 2,507 receiving yards and 29 touchdown catches, he left Auburn as its all-time leader.

Beasley also owns school records for 12 total 100-yard receiving games and eight straight games with a touchdown catch.

Beasley was picked by San Francisco as the No. 19 overall selection in the 1972 NFL Draft, and he played professionally until 1975 when he had to retire after suffering from multiple concussions. He lived through the remainder of his life with CTE.

One of only three jerseys that Auburn has retired is Beasley’s number 88; the other two are Sullivan’s number 7 and Bo Jackson’s number 34.
