Aguerd reveals why Newcastle must be worried

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has every reason to feel worried as his team face the Irons in Sunday’s match at the London Stadium.

Howe told his pre-match press conference he feared the Hammers set piece situations pointing to James Ward Prowse as a particular threat.

With six assists from the former Southampton captain, the Geordies boss is correct, and Nayef Aguerd agreed, describing the No 7’s delivery as “wonderful.”

He benefited from that when scoring the game-winning goal against Freiburg, and he’ll be looking for a similar result tomorrow when he arrives late in the box to latch onto crosses and corners.

Kurt Zouma and Tomáš Souček have also found the net on the end of a Ward-Prowse corner this term, with the summer.

Aguerd has been discussing it all on www.whufc.com and is clearly delighted with the new dimension JWP has added to the squad.

He said of his goal: “It was a nice feeling. We all know that we are performing from set pieces – Prowsey’s delivery is wonderful so we work a lot in training to score these goals.

“On Thursday it was me, it was Kurt against Luton. Tomáš has scored from set pieces, so we work on those.”

Yes, Newcastle be worried, be very worried!
