Virginia Tech Football: Fans blow up social media defending Bud Foster

Bud Foster, the famed and former Virginia Tech football defensive coordinator, returned to Lane Stadium on Saturday afternoon for the Hokies’ Homecoming Game versus Wake Forest. Foster was down on the field at the end of the first quarter and addressed the sold-out crowd.

His sentiments were clearly heard by the Virginia Tech players and fans, who made life difficult for the Wake Forest offensive. In fact, they demolished the Demon Deacons, with seven sacks and 13 tackles for loss in a 30-13 win.

Message heard and message received in what felt like a must-win game for the Hokies in terms of having a chance to become Bowl-eligible after their bye week, sitting at 3-4. On Sunday morning, the former defensive coordinator under famous head coach Frank Beamer was forced to defend himself on Twitter/X after a fan accused him of being drunk during his 60-second statement. Foster replied with a tweet.

It’s safe to say the Hokies fans stood up and defended their former DC, something that should not come as a surprise.

It should be mentioned that the original Tweet was taken down by the person who made the accusation after getting a tone of blowback, but it’s safe to say once again that Virginia Tech fans came to the defense of their legendary defensive coordinator. As they should. Bud Foster is a true legend in college football.
