Aston Villa midfielder Philippe Coutinho has arrived in Brazil, signaling his intent to finalize a move to Vasco de Gama. The former Liverpool standout is intensifying discussions about returning to his home country, with his departure from the Premier League seeming increasingly probable.

Reports from Brazil suggest that all parties are collaborating to facilitate Coutinho’s departure from Villa, which could happen in early June. Negotiating the terms of his exit from the club is reportedly the main hurdle delaying his swift transfer to Vasco. Coutinho touched down in Brazil on Friday and addressed local media, indicating that his departure this summer is imminent.

During his stint at Villa, Coutinho has managed six goals and three assists, following a disappointing spell at Barcelona where his £142m move from Liverpool didn’t pan out. Last season, he was on loan at Al-Duhail in Qatar, but they aren’t keen on signing him permanently.

There have been rumors linking Coutinho with a return to his former club Vasco, reportedly as part of a potential partnership with NSWE, who are looking to expand their V Sports portfolio. Vasco’s season has already begun, but they are interested in adding Coutinho to their squad, albeit at a reduced salary.
