Unexpected announcement Regarding Gran Turismo, which will leave you speechless…

The Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races have refreshed again for the new week, with an unusual-looking line-up that features racing cars across the board.

You know it’s going be quite the week when Race A, ordinarily a one-make road car race and the one which last week focused on the Toyota Hiace van, features Gr.2 cars. That’s exactly what we have, with an eight-lap blast at the short Nurburgring Sprint circuit.

This layout somehow manages to combine all the worst parts of the GP circuit with an additional corner that is even worse, with an off-camber turn five that cuts between turns five and ten of the GP track. It also halves the number of places that cars this fast can really stretch their legs.

As usual it appears that the 2016 GT500s are the pick of the class, and the Honda NSX especially is the car of choice. Whichever car you go for though, it needs to be fitted with Racing Soft tires for this sprint event.

Despite the departure in format, Driver Rating (DR) updates remain switched off for this race. Sportsmanship Rating (SR) updates are still active, so do watch out for too much bumping and banging as it’s a quick way to descend the rankings — and if they fall too far, your DR may be at risk too.

Race B this week is absolutely wild, as you’ll be heading to the Watkins Glen Long Course circuit and racing Gr.1 cars. Yes, that’s the category that brings together Group C, LMP1 and LMP1-H, LMH, and even some Vision GT cars inspired by the top class of prototype racing.

It’s a car from that latter set that’s dominating the leaderboards right now, with the Bugatti Vision GT Gr.1 being the car of choice for every single time in the top 100. You do, of course, have a free selection of Gr.1 cars but you’ll need to fit Racing Medium tires for this six-lap run.

Finally there’s Race C, which also has an unusual setup this week — even if the overview looks pretty straightforward. You’ll be driving three laps of the Nurburgring 24h circuit in the Gr.3 cars, on Racing Hard tires.

Both tire wear and fuel consumption are set at a 1x multiplier and, oddly, there’s no requirement for a mandatory pit stop this week — with this having been an almost permanent feature for months now. That would look like a recipe for a mixed-condition race, but as far as we can make out there’s no rain at all.

It’s a straight, three-lap sprint then. Once again, Polyphony Digital is incentivizing the Gr.3 race with a 600% credit boost for taking part, so do watch out for desperate late-race overtakes for pretty much every available position…

Daily Races are the main ranked multiplayer events in GT7. Your Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR) are determined by your performances, updating after each race, and these are used to set your ranking and league for the game’s flagship esports series each season.

In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub. A PlayStation Plus subscription is required to take part.

With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday across the game’s life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday, October 28.
