Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make their move for Brennan Johnson with Brentford seemingly looking elsewhere.

Brennan Johnson wants a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer despite interest from Chelsea and West Ham United.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Tottenham are now preparing to launch a bid for Johnson.

It’s claimed that Nottingham Forest want around £50million for Johnson and have already rejected £35million from Brentford.

The Bees now appear to be moving on to a new target having launched a bid for Brentford attacker Nicolas Gonzalez.

Brentford may be out of the way but Chelsea and West Ham United are still keen – and Tottenham appear to be favourites.

It’s stated that Johnson’s preference is to join Tottenham as he believes that is the best move for playing regularly.

Tottenham are looking for pace in their attack and Johnson appears to be the prime target as the transfer window enters its final stage.

The report adds that Tottenham could offer players to Forest as part of the deal in an attempt to bring the price tag down.

Defender Davinson Sanchez is one option with Tottenham open to letting others head to the City Ground if possible.

Brennan Johnson makes sense for Tottenham Hotspur

We can understand the major excitement surrounding a potential move for Gent forward Gift Orban in recent weeks.

The Nigerian looks to be an absolute goalscoring sensation and should have a huge future in the game.

Tottenham fans have been hoping for Orban to arrive but Tottenham could end up paying more to bring in Johnson.

The Welshman is a homegrown player and already has a season of Premier League football under his belt, which Tottenham may feel can provide more of an immediate impact.

Johnson scored eight times last season, causing major problems for Premier League defenders thanks to his blistering pace.

Spurs seemingly want to add a speed attacker who can play right across the front line and Johnson fits that bill.

The 22-year-old was clocked as the Premier League’s second-fastest player last season, ahead of Mykhailo Mudryk and only behind Kyle Walker.

Johnson may not have the buzz or the mystique of Orban but he fits what Tottenham are seeking and if they can include some fringe players in the deal, this could be a masterstroke for Spurs.
