In preparation for the 2024 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles are completing their draft board in an effort to bolster their 90-man roster with more impact players.

But before we get excited about the NFL Draft, the Eagles made a small signing on Thursday that might turn out to be a mistake in their tight end room. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network stated that C.J. Uzomah, an experienced tight end, is anticipated to ink a one-year contract with the Eagles.

Jack Stoll, who inked a one-year contract in free agency with the New York Giants, will probably be replaced as the Eagles’ number two wide receiver by Uzomah. The Eagles’ acquisition of Uzomah appears to be an improvement at the TE2 position on paper.

Nevertheless, in his final two seasons with the New York Jets, the 31-year-old tight end did very little to nothing. Jets supporters anticipated that Uzomah, who impressed in Cincinnati, would establish himself as a key component of New York’s offense, but that did not materialize.

Jack Stoll on why he wanted to play for Eagles

The 6-foot-5 tight end had eight receptions (12 targets) for 58 yards and a touchdown in the previous season while playing for the Jets. When we compared Uzomah’s 2023 performance to his 2022 performance, which showed that he had 21 receptions (27

Uzomah was better than Stoll, who had only 20 receptions (27 targets) for 183 yards in his three seasons with the Eagles, despite his recent struggles in New York. But Uzomah will need to block this season for the Eagles, as Stoll was relied upon to do.

The Eagles, who took one-year flyers on Parris Campbell and DeVante Parker this offseason, are not overly impressed with the Uzomah signing. Philadelphia will either quickly move on to Albert Okwuegbunam or Grant Calcaterra, or they hope Uzomah can become the tight end we saw in Cincinnati.
