“That’s why” – Striker on decision to stay amid Nottingham Forest interest, keeps PL option open for future

VfB Stuttgart were successful in retaining Serhou Guirassy despite Nottingham Forest’s efforts to try and sign him in the last window.

Bild reported on August 3rd that the Tricky Trees were interested in the 27-year-old. Later that month, Kicker claimed his desire to move to England, citing the Premier League club’s interest in a double deal involving the striker and Borna Sosa.

Nottingham Forest were unable to complete the transfer of the striker after he elected to remain with the Bundesliga club. The player himself addressed this in an interview with Bild.

When asked why he didn’t move to England, he said: “We have a good team, a good coach and incredible fans. We feel very comfortable as a family in Stuttgart. That’s why I decided to stay at VfB.”

Steve Cooper’s side could be presented with another opportunity to sign the player next summer, when his €20m release clause will come into effect.

Bild asked the Guinea international if he dreams of playing in the Premier League one day.

Not exactly a dream. But if there is an option to move to the Premier League at some point, why not? But it’s not like I dream about it every day,” Guirassy explained.

Nottingham Forest will be delighted to know that he hasn’t closed the door to move to England.

Guirassy has 11 goals and two assists from six games and should he continue to shine this season, there could be more clubs looking at the possibility of signing him in the upcoming windows.
