Texas Rangers’ Bruce Bochy passes Joe McCarthy on MLB managers all-time wins list

Bochy is now ninth all-time for wins among MLB managers.

With the Rangers’ 3-1 win over the LA Dodgers on Thursday, manager Bruce Bochy has moved into the ninth-overall spot on the list of all-time winningest MLB managers.

Bochy logged win No. 2,126 on Thursday, passing former Yankees, Cubs and Red Sox manager Joe McCarthy and taking sole possession of ninth place in MLB history.

It’s win No. 143 with the Texas Rangers, and that official tally doesn’t include the 13 postseason wins that led the Rangers to their first championship in October. The run landed Bochy his fourth World Series ring.

The three others were won in his time with the San Francisco Giants, where he spent 13 seasons and won 1,052 games. Before that he managed the Padres for 12 seasons and 951 wins, and an NL Pennant in 1998.

Bochy was named Manager of the Year in 1996, and finished second for the award last season with the Rangers.
