Sunderland Sign Noah Sadiki from Union Singles in €20m Deal
Sunderland have officially agreed a deal to sign highly-rated midfielder Noah Sadiki from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise. The deal, confirmed earlier today, sees the 19-year-old complete his medical this morning, with a contract signed that will keep him at the Stadium of Light until June 2030.
The transfer fee is reported to be €17 million up front, with €3 million in performance-based add-ons, bringing the potential total to €20 million. This makes Sadiki one of Sunderland’s most expensive signings in their modern history, signaling a bold statement of intent as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League season.
Sadiki, who can play both as a central midfielder and right-back, is considered one of Belgium’s top young talents. He made over 50 appearances last season for Union SG, playing a crucial role in their title challenge and European campaign. His ability to cover multiple positions and contribute defensively as well as in buildup play made him a priority target for Sunderland’s recruitment team.
Known for his pressing intensity, ball-carrying, and tactical intelligence, Sadiki is expected to slot into a dynamic midfield role under manager Régis Le Bris, who recently joined Sunderland as head coach. The signing follows the club’s capture of Habib Diarra, another highly rated young midfielder, as Sunderland aim to blend youthful energy with Premier League resilience.
Multiple European clubs were reportedly monitoring Sadiki, including Brentford, Leeds United, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Atalanta, but Sunderland moved quickly to agree terms with both Union SG and the player’s representatives.
Sadiki’s arrival adds depth to a Sunderland midfield that already features Dan Neil, Jobe Bellingham, and new arrival Diarra. His five-year contract also reflects Sunderland’s long-term vision, with the club continuing to invest in promising talent as they look to establish themselves back in the top flight.
With the deal now complete and the player having passed his medical, Sadiki is expected to join the squad for pre-season training next week. Fans will be eager to see how the Belgian youth international adapts to English football and contributes to what promises to be an exciting new era on Wearside
