Not a very happy ending to their season after being swept by the Connecticut Sun in the first round but there are definitely strong expectations for future improvement and resilience from the Indiana Fever. While most of the spotlight shines on rookie Caitlin Clark, it would be unfair to snub the last year ROTY, Aliyah Boston, as not only she had a decent season but hit back-to-back double-doubles in the first round fixtures. Now that her second season has wrapped up, Dawn Staley has some insightful guidance lined up for her former pupil.
Recently, the Fever forward took to her X account to share some highlights from her season, captioning the post with a simple, “Year 2✅.” Although it felt like a wrap-up of the season, her former head coach, Dawn Staley, couldn’t help but chime in with an advice. “Your @WNBA MVP awaits! Keep applying the pressure! It’s what we do!” wrote Staley under Boston’s tweet.
It looks like Dawn Staley isn’t finished showing off the talent from her South Carolina program. As the university alumna A’ja Wilson just snagged the MVP honor for the third time, Staley is now setting her sights on another one of her trainees. Aliyah Boston, who played four impressive seasons with the Gamecocks under her guidance, stepped into the WNBA and won the Rookie of the Year award in 2023.
Well, Staley’s guidance is something we can always expect from her, given her close bonds with her players. This isn’t the first time she has offered valuable advice to Aliyah Boston; previously, Staley admired Boston when she took on the role of interviewer.
