South Carolina women’s basketball is projected as the No. 1 overall seed as of Sunday morning, according to ESPN’s Charlie Creme.
In the latest bracketology, Creme has the Gamecocks as the No. 1 seed, hosting in Columbia in the Birmingham 1 Region. He projects their bracket will be Creighton (No. 8), Georgia Tech (No. 9) and the winner of a First Four game between Southern and NC A&T (No. 16).
South Carolina has been projected as a No. 1 seed for the last month or so, with a few days the exception. After losing to UConn on Feb. 16, it showed coach Dawn Staley’s team as a No. 2 seed for a brief moment but after winning every game since, it bumped back up to a No. 1 seed.
After defeating Texas in the SEC tournament championship last Sunday, the Gamecocks have been projected as the top overall seed in March Madness.
