Brighton ace shortlisted for player of the month – alongside Nottingham Forest, Tottenham and West Ham stars

Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma has enjoyed a sparkling start to the Premier League season and has been nominated for the player of the month award

Mitoma scored a goal that was a contender for goal of the season last month against Wolves, and he also assisted on Pervis Estupinan’s goal at Molineux.

Mitoma, 26, also assisted Solly March in the opening day 4-1 win over Luton Town at the American Express Stadium.

The Albion manager was pleased with the Japanese international’s contribution. “I think he’s one of the best players in the world at 1vs1s,” the Italian coach remarked.

Brighton and Mitoma have had a good start to the season, with the Seagulls sitting sixth in the table after three victories and one loss in their first four games. Albion return to action after the international break on September 16 at Manchester United. They will therefore kick off their maiden Europa League campaign on Thursday, September 21, when they host AEK Athens at the Amex.
