SAD NEWS: He Won’t Play Again….

Washington Commanders Make Jayden Daniels Injury Announcement

Dan Quinn shared an update on Daniels’ injury Wednesday.

The Washington Commanders rolled to victory over the Carolina Panthers in Week 7, notching a 40-7 win on Sunday afternoon.

Unfortunately for the Commanders, this victory came with an injury for rising-superstar quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Daniels, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, suffered a bruised ribs injury in the first quarter.

On Monday, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn called Daniels’ injury “week-to-week” and said the team would continue to monitor the issue leading up to Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Today, Quinn announced that Daniels would not participate in Wednesday’s practice session.

“He won’t practice today,” Quinn said. “He’ll continue the meetings and our individual stuff to go through that. He’ll get treatment today and continue to progress today and tomorrow.

“I’ll update you guys after Friday’s practice and we’ll go from there.”

Daniels began his NFL career with a red-hot start, performing as one of the league’s top quarterbacks through his first six games. The rookie leads the league in completion percentage (75.6%), recording 1,410 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions through the air. He also has 372 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

This Week 8 matchup against the Bears was supposed to be a highly-anticipated contest between the No. 1 and No. 2 overall picks in this year’s draft. Unfortunately, it appears Caleb Williams may not be facing off against his rookie counterpart.

If Daniels is unable to go, veteran signal caller Marcus Mariota will continue to take over QB1 duties.
