‘I tried to push through it’: Patriots WR DeMario Douglas provides update after bad experience …
The New England Patriots’ key receiver was not feeling well prior to the team’s matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium. And soon after, it became clear that he was suffering from food poisoning.
While he tried to tough it out during the game, he was ultimately very limited on Sunday.
But it’s a new week and Douglas has had a few days to recover. So how is he feeling heading into Week 8?
“I’m pretty up there. Probably like 90 percent,” Douglas told A to Z Sports about how he’s feeling. “I’ll be 100 percent on Sunday.”
Douglas wanted nothing more than to be out with his team for their international matchup. He caught two passes for 14 yards, but it became too hard for him to continue.
“I was about to die. I tried to push through it,” Douglas explained. “I tried as much as I could, but it was just like, I couldn’t finish.”
“I didn’t want to miss that game,” he added.
But unfortunately, the food poisoning forced him to.
So when he took the field on Wednesday, he was excited that it was a new week. And he was ready to just forget about that dreadful trip.
“I’m getting back on track,” Douglas said. “Just getting my energy back and getting everything back. It feels good to be out there.”
Drake Maye will get Douglas back on Sunday, which is key for the offense against a strong New York Jets team.
