‘Raw pace and ability’: Wolves told ‘powerful’ player may actually be their new Matheus Nunes

Dave Edwards has expressed his delight with the signing of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde by the Wolves.

The Frenchman was the club’s final signing of the summer transfer window.

Wolves were late in their pursuit of the midfielder, and they were able to reach an agreement with Strasbourg on transfer deadline day.

Officials rushed over to Strasbourg to finalize details, mirroring the signing of Boubacar Traore the year before.

Bellegarde has recently completed his first week of training with Wolves, and from the clips shown to supporters, he appears to be a capable player.

Wolves, in Edwards’ opinion, have done excellent business by signing him…

Dave Edwards praises Wolves’ signing of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde

In his Express & Star piece, Edwards discussed Wolves’ recent signing.

Matheus Nunes has left Wanderers after going on strike to force a move to Manchester City.

However, Bellegarde appears to be a viable option for the Portuguese.

“I’m really excited about Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and what he could bring to Wolves,” Edwards stated. What I enjoy best about him is that he is so distinct from the rest of the Wolves squad. I believe he is quite different to what they have, whether he plays in central midfield or as a wide midfielder in the mold of Matheus Nunes.

“His main asset is his raw speed and ability to shift the ball and move quickly over the first three or four yards to get away from defenders.”

“That is such a valuable asset to have as a midfielder because of his ability to convert defense into attack.”

“Having such a strong runner is very exciting.” He is physically fit and can box. From what I’ve seen and read, he does a great job on both sides of the ball.”

Bellegarde must show the consistency Nunes did not for Wolves

It’s intriguing to imagine Bellegarde as a genuine successor for Nunes.

Nunes’ style of play is quite distinct.

So it would be fantastic if Bellegarde could do some similar ball-carrying.

Wolves fans will be hoping that the 26-year-old is more consistent than Nunes throughout his time at Molineux.

Nunes, as impressive as he could appear, delivered much more awful performances for Wolves than good ones.

Given this, Bellegarde, who has taken Nunes’ former number 27 shirt number, should feel no pressure to impress for Wolves and will be able to strike the ground running right away.
