Queens Park Rangers Linked With Move For Versatile Dutch International
Championship strugglers Queens Park Rangers are hoping to sign Terence Kongolo from Fulham on a season-long loan, according to The Athletic.
Having spent three seasons with Huddersfield Town from 2017 to 2020, the Netherlands international moved to Craven Cottage on loan during the 2019/20 campaign but made merely two appearances for the Cottagers in all competitions and just one in the league.
Nevertheless, despite the defender’s lack of game-time, Fulham were promoted to the Premier League and announced the signing of Kongolo on a permanent basis in October 2020 for an undisclosed fee.
Over the past three seasons, Kongolo appeared once more in the league for the London club, raising questions about the permanent acquisition of the player in the first place, although recurring injuries certainly played their part in the matter.
This season, the 29-year-old has yet to feature under Fulham boss Marco Silva and now the club are looking to send the versatile central defender out on loan, with both QPR and Austrian giants Rapid Vienna keen to secure his signature.
Gareth Ainsworth’s side have had a turbulent start to the 2023/24 campaign in the Championship and are currently sitting 19th in the league, having picked up one win and three losses from their first four matches.
Before the season began, QPR suffered heavy injury blows at the back, losing Jimmy Dunne and Jake Clarke-Salter. Rangers have reduced any panic by signing experienced centre-back Steve Cook from Nottingham Forest but are now hoping to add Kongolo to the squad before tomorrow’s transfer deadline passes.

Kongolo can play as a left-back and a central defender, making him a great addition to any team. The issue is whether he can stay fit and, unfortunately, QPR know all too well about having injured defenders.
Over the past four seasons in English football, the Dutchman has featured four times in all competitions which is certainly a worry for the Loftus Road faithful, but should he keep fit, this will be a superb acquisition.
