‘Down to me’: 20-year-old Everton player now absolutely desperate to prove himself to Sean Dyche

Lewis Dobbin is desperate to make an impression at Everton this season.

Lewis Dobbin has spoken out about his prospects of getting regular game time for Everton this season.

The 20-year-old forward has come on from the bench in both of Everton’s Premier League matches so far, but has struggled to impose himself in situations where the Toffees have already looked to have let the game slip away from them.

However, Dobbin is optimistic that he can keep getting chances to impress and that he will be able to have a positive impact for the Merseyside outfit. If the youngster can step up to the Premier League level and enjoy a breakthrough campaign then that will certainly be a huge boost for Sean Dyche.

Everton are in dire need of a goalscorer. If Dobbin can find his clinical touch then he could become a hero at Goodison Park this season. The club can’t afford to be pinning too many hopes on the youngster who only managed 3 league goals whilst on loan with Derby County in League One last season, though.

Dobbin ready to work for his Everton chance

Speaking to the official Everton website, the former England under-19 international has discussed the challenge he faces in securing regular minutes for Everton. Dobbin said, “on a personal note, I didn’t feel out of place when I was out there. That’s a positive. But now I need to keep improving and getting more minutes. I just need to keep working hard on the training pitch and trying to impress the Gaffer. Hopefully, I keep getting chances and when I do, I have got to take them. But that’s down to me to get more.”

Given Dyche’s depleted attacking options, further opportunities may well be on the horizon for Dobbin. Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffered another injury setback against Aston Villa, Neal Maupay is in abysmal form, and summer signing Youssef Chermiti is yet to be named in a matchday squad.

Everton face Wolves next time out in the Premier League, and Dyche will already be looking at that as something of a must-win game. The Toffees will have the home advantage, and Wolves are also winless and expected to struggle this season. Everton need to get their season up and running and Dobbin will be keen to play his part in that on Saturday.
