Latest Nottingham Forest news as Reds captain Joe Worrall helps secure 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

Head coach Steve Cooper singled out skipper Joe Worrall for special recognition for his outstanding performance in Nottingham Forest’s win over Chelsea just days after a family tragedy.

Worrall was brilliant in the Reds’ 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge. His accomplishment occurred just a few days after his uncle, sergeant Graham Saville, died.

The Newark Police Station response officer died on Tuesday, five days after being hit by a train on the railway lines in Balderton. He had been seriously hurt while responding to a cry for help for a man on the line.

Prior to Forest’s Carabao Cup loss to Burnley on Wednesday, there was a minute’s applause in his honor at the City Ground. Worrall was suspended for that game, but he was reinstated in the capital.

“He’s been incredible,” Cooper stated. “I was aware of what was going on before it was made public.” He has prioritized his family and the football team before himself.

“I believe the football club has aided him by providing him with some relief.” After what he’s been through, the boys showed him a lot of respect in the locker room.

“I can’t say enough good things about the man he’s become in the last week or so. I know how significant today will be for him, and it will provide some relief for him and his family.

“Nothing can make what happened better, but this gives them some pleasant feelings for a short time.” With all he and his family have been through, I can’t recommend Joe highly enough. They benefited greatly from the outcome.”
