‘One more bid’: Journalist says Man City could now sign ‘incredible’ 25 y/o player with their next offer

It has been reported that Manchester City could seal the signing of Matheus Nunes from Wolves with their next bid.

This comes from journalist Ben Jacobs on Twitter Spaces, after the 25-year-old was claimed to have ‘stopped training’ in order to force a move to City on Monday.

Now, it seems like Manchester City and Matheus Nunes could finally join forces as the next bid in place could go through.

Ben Jacobs: Manchester City could sign Matheus Nunes with their next bid

Branded as ‘incredible’ by Bruno Fernandes, the former Sporting CP midfielder seems to be targeted by City mainly due to Kevin De Bruyne’s injury.

After having lost arguably the best midfielder in Premier League history for potentially three to four months, it is no surprise that the club were insistent on bringing in a reinforcement.

Fortunately for Manchester City, it seems like their next bid could do the trick and confirm the arrival of Matheus Nunes, according to Ben Jacobs.

“Wolves have got a much higher valuation that exceeds £50 million and Manchester City have already had two bids rejected.”

“But when the player wants the move and when the money on the table from Wolves’ perspective hits, a certain number, not just a number they want but from a purely financial point of view, a number that they’ll almost be forced to accept, I think that they’ll have to sell eventually, which is why Manchester City are quite confident and I think one more bid might do it for Manchester City.”

How Pep Guardiola uses Matheus Nunes will be fascinating

If the bid is indeed accepted and Matheus Nunes becomes a Manchester City player, it will be intriguing to discover how Pep Guardiola utilises him.

Considering the Portuguese international is a player that thrives deeper like Mateo Kovacic, would the pair play in tandem alongside Rodri?

Or will Nunes and Kovacic compete for a starting spot?

Another question mark remains about whether the Wolves midfielder is viewed as an advanced No.8 alongside Phil Foden, which is why this potential move is conversation-worthy.
