Bryson Rodgers Leaves Transfer Portal, Announces Return to Ohio State

Freshman Wide Receiver Bryson Rodgers Returning To Ohio State After Entering Transfer Portal - Buckeye Huddle

The Ohio Stateeye Bucks have retained another piece of their roster for the 2024 season. Buckeyes f resh Bryson Rogers announced Saturday morning that he would be pulling his name from the transfer portal, electing instead to come back to the Scarlet and Gray. “I appreciate all the coaches that blessed me with an opportunity to come to their program,” Rogers said. “This has been nowhere easy for me. Buckeye nation, with deep reconsideration and thought, I will be returning to The Ohio State University.”

Rogers is now one of three freshman receivers to whom the Buckeyes will look next season, alongside the veteran Emeka Egbuka. Both Brandon Inniss and Carnell Tate (the other two returning first-years alongside Rogers) have experience from this season.

Also joining Rogers next season is incoming freshman Jeremiah Smith. Smith was not only the top recruit in the country at his position but also the highest-ranked overall in his class. The recent news has not all been good for the Buckeyes, however. Ohio State’s main receiver and Heisman Trophy finalist Marvin Harrison Jr. announced earlier this week he would be declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft, rather than coming back for his senior season.

The addition of Rogers is welcomed and surprising news for the Buckeyes, as not many players elect to leave the transfer portal once their name has been entered. One thing is for certain: Ohio State transfer quarterback Will Howard will have plenty of quality options to whom he can throw the ball next season.
