Nottingham Forest striker makes Evangelos Marinakis admission in ‘bigger and better’ claim

Latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive as Reds striker Chris Wood has his say on club owner Evangelos Marinakis

Chris Wood, a Nottingham Forest striker, has praised club owner Evangelos Marinakis for “putting his money where his mouth is.”

The Greek businessman has owned Forest since 2017 and supervised the club’s return to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years last year. Steve Cooper’s side is in their second season in the Premier League after surviving relegation in 2022/23.

Marinakis has made significant investments in the club since his arrival, with the Reds spending over £200 million on transfer fees since their elevation to the Premier League.

And Wood has showered praise on the Reds owner for his efforts at the City Ground thus far. He believes the club has a bright future under Marinakis’ ownership.

“He’s put his money where his mouth is,” Wood said, according to BBC 5 Live.

“In that sense, he’s backed the club, backed the team, and backed Nottingham’s infrastructure, as well as looking at the stadium, looking at the training ground to improve everything around us, he’s definitely done it in the right way.”

“So far, he’s put his money into the company, which has been fantastic, and it’s it’s helped us as a team on the pitch. The club can only get better and bigger and move up the league and we know how high his ambition is to be a top-flight Premier League team but who knows where it could take us?”
