Nottingham Forest now open contract talks with ‘fantastic’ 25-year-old

Yates, 25, has been out of the team lately. The player hasn’t started a game since the win over Chelsea back in September, with Steve Cooper preferring other options.

Since joining the team on deadline day, Nicolas Dominguez and Ibrahim Sangare have both been a regular. The head coach has chosen Orel Mangala to go with them, and he’s doing great.

Forest open talks with Yates over new contract

Yates continues to be valued by the Reds for his contributions to the team and appreciates his advice. The Athletic claims that Forest has already started negotiations and wants the player to stay.

Yates has fought a constant battle to impress supporters since he came into the fold. To this day, he divides the fan base, with half buzzing when he gets minutes and the other wondering what he offers the team.

One thing that can’t be denied is the player’s commitment to the cause. Forest have always got maximum effort from Yates and that hasn’t gone unnoticed in the eyes of Cooper.

How long does Yates have on his existing City Ground deal

Right now, the midfielder’s contract is good until 2025. Considering this, there isn’t a compelling reason for Forest to bind Yates to anything.

Despite not playing much lately, the player is still a valuable member of the club. He is a big admirer, and Jamie Carragher described him as “fantastic” after his performance in a 1-1 tie with Chelsea last season.

Although Yates hasn’t featured much recently for Forest, he is still a capable player who can contribute when needed. He has elevated his career to a new level under Cooper’s guidance, so maybe an extension is warranted.
