Murillo again impressed in the Premier League but was forced off with 15 minutes to play on Sunday as Nottingham Forest lost 3-2

Nottingham Forest are sweating on the results of a scan on Murillo after the defender was forced off in the defeat to West Ham United.

The young Brazilian appeared to pick up the problem in the first half when sprinting back to stifle a Hammers counter attack. He was able to play on until the 75 minute mark before being replaced by Willy Boly in a 3-2 defeat at the London Stadium.

“He’s got a hamstring strain, so fingers crossed,” head coach Steve Cooper said. “He was the one that was defending the set plays really well. He was put in a pivotal role and was doing it really well before he went off. That was a blow because he’s become an important player the way he builds up.

“He makes the first pass to start attacks as well as anyone we have. He’s felt his hamstring and had to come off so hopefully it’s not a bad one. I’m sure the scan will tell us in the next day or two.”

Cooper also confirmed that Nicolas Dominguez being replaced by Danilo at half-time was a tactical move. Argentina international Dominguez was at fault for West Ham’s first goal, but Cooper said that was not a factor in taking him off.

“That was a tactical change. We felt we needed more of a player of Danilo’s profile. It was nothing to do with the goal. He came into the game with a little bit of illness, but there’s no excuse, he was ready to play and we felt it was a change we needed,” he said.

Forest slipped to 15th in the Premier League as Tomas Soucek headed in the winner with two minutes to go of normal time. They will hope to benefit from having two weeks off now due to the last international break of the year.
