Nottingham Forest striker Emmanuel Dennis will sign on loan for Istanbul Basaksehir before tomorrow’s transfer deadline. The Reds player has been a wanted man this week and a deal now looks close.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the player is signing for the club. He’s uttered the words, ‘Here we go’, and Forest appear to finally be getting rid of the player at least for the 2023/24 campaign.
According to reports, Istanbul will not be able to sign Dennis on a permanent basis from Forest. However, given that he has not been nominated to the club’s Premier League team, getting him out for a year is a gain.
Things haven’t gone well for Dennis at Forest. He joined the club for £15 million from Watford last summer and has 10 Premier League goals to his name.
Steve Cooper just never really took to him at all. He only started six times in the top-flight and his two goals failed to convince the head coach that he was a player that he could regularly count upon.
Dennis edges closer to Forest exit
This is a move that frankly makes sense for all parties. The Reds would have liked a deal to sell Dennis but ultimately getting him out for a year is better than him kicking his heels at Forest.
Dennis hasn’t made it at Forest, but it’s not entirely his fault. Cooper used a method that didn’t really suit his style of play, and it’s difficult to get going when you’re only starting one game every month.
Forest now has more alternatives in their team. Losing Dennis isn’t a big problem, and maybe he can impress enough this season to tempt Istanbul into a permanent signing next summer.
