No need to worry about comeback as Coventry City favourite prepares to join exciting mix

Coventry City comment from CoventryLive as fans eagerly await the return of hugely influential midfielder Callum O’Hare

The announcement that Callum O’Hare will be back in full training next week has elicited a mixed reaction from supporters, with some eager to see him return as soon as possible and others concerned that he may be rushed back too soon, putting him at risk of further setbacks.

The idea of the attacking Sky Blues midfielder regaining full health is undoubtedly thrilling and long-awaited. He’s been sorely missed, and we can only wonder what would have happened at Wembley in May if he’d been in City’s arsenal on the day.

It’s an old football cliche, but when he’s finally back up to speed with a new-look group full of quality, pace, and attacking flair, he’ll be like a new signing. Fans, however, need not be concerned about his return in any manner.

He will not be brought back before he is ready, and his return will not be prolonged unnecessarily. The physios and medical professionals will know when he’s ready, but most importantly, Callum will know his own body and, hopefully, listen to it.

He’ll have a few hurdles to overcome before he’s ready, not the least of which is gaining the confidence to play full-contact football, which will put both his mental fortitude and his repaired ligaments to the test. The beauty of his gradual homecoming is that City does not need to rush him. They don’t have a shortage of creative options right now, with Kasey Palmer in fine form and technically gifted loan player Yasin Ayari making a positive first impression in a Sky Blues shirt.

There’s also the intriguing idea of O’Hare occasionally playing with Palmer and/or Ayari at the top of City’s extremely successful midfield box, giving Mark Robins different tactical choices pushing forward.

Meanwhile, we can sit back and enjoy seeing the new recruits settle in and gel, knowing that O’Hare isn’t far away from joining what appears to be a potent blend of quality in City’s final third.
