Leeds United are among a host of clubs interested in signing Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill.

That is according to TeamTalk, who report Leeds, along with Wolves, Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace, Everton and Leicester City could all make moves for Brownhill before the end of the window.

Leeds are in the market for another central midfielder this summer having already brought in Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea for £7 million last month.

Amid doubts over the future of Tyler Adams, it is an area of pressing concern with 17-year-old Archie Gray having started all three matches in all competitions this season.

Brownhill has just 12 months left to run on his deal at Burnley and played just five minutes in their Premier League opener with Manchester City last week.

Brownhill played a key role in Burnley’s promotion winning campaign last term, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists as they romped to the Championship title.

Speaking to the Burnley Express about Brownhill last August, Clarets boss Vincent Kompany spoke of his belief at how Brownhill could become one of the best players in the Championship if he continued his development.

“Keeping Brownhill this season was crucial and he was ready for the responsibility to become a key player. I still see some growth in his game. I don’t want to talk him up too far but he can be one of the players of the Championship if he stays on this road this season.”

Based on his 22/23 campaign under Kompany, it is fair to say Brownhill lived up to Kompany’s praise as he was named in both the WhoScored, and official EFL team of the season.

Amid interest from Premier League clubs, this will no doubt be a tough deal to do but if he does come to Elland Road, he’d be able to hit the ground running.
