Major Rangers injury boost as Roofe return timeline set

Kemar Roofe could return for the Rangers next weekend after a scan revealed no severe damage.

After being forced off in the midweek Viaplay Cup triumph over Livingston, the Ibrox striker was taken for an evaluation this week.

Roofe experienced a groin problem during the game and was brought off as a precaution at halftime.

Roofe, on the other hand, has not suffered a catastrophic injury and could return as soon as midweek, which is a huge relief for Michael Beale.

“Fingers crossed Kemar will be available again for next weekend,” he told BBC Sportsound.

“There was nothing really significant on the scan, so it appears that coming out was a good decision.”

“He’ll miss today and may not return.”

Roofe sits out for the match against Aberdeen this afternoon with Todd Cantwell, Danilo, Kieran Dowell, Nico Raskin, Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo also sidelined.

Beale continued, “We have seven injuries at the moment and they have all come through games and they are all people who would play in the top five positions, which makes life really difficult.”

“Certainly, when you look at our bench, we only have Scott Wright and Zak Lovelace – who is coming back from a hamstring injury – so we are a little light in that [forward] area.”

“The backend of the pitch we seem to have everybody available so maybe that is why the clean sheets are there.”
