Neil Diamond produced dozens of hit singles throughout his career. While he may now be retired from most activities due to his health concerns, the superstar’s music remains incredibly popular all around the world. Fans are still buying and streaming, and now they’ve collectively pushed him back to an important ranking in one of the largest music markets in the world.

“Sweet Caroline” reappears on the U.K. songs chart this week. The tune blasts back onto the all-genre list of the most-consumed tunes in the nation and lands at No. 55.

This week, Diamond earns the top returning win on the tally. Just one cut that wasn’t present on the U.K. songs chart last week manages to appear higher than “Sweet Caroline” this time around. Quavo and Lana Del Rey’s “Tough” opens at No. 32 this period.

Three other hits also mount comebacks, and impressively, Diamond beats them all. Noah Kahan’s “You’re Gonna Go Far,” Fat Les’ “Vindaloo,” and Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves’ “I Remember Everything” all return to the U.K. songs chart this week, but none of them are able to match “Sweet Caroline” this frame, despite the fact that it’s been out for decades.

“Sweet Caroline” ranks as Diamond’s longest-charting hit in the U.K. It’s now earned 23 stays somewhere on the songs tally. The tune adds to that sum every few years, with some frequency lately.

The last time that “Sweet Caroline” appeared on the U.K. songs chart was back in December 2022. That year, it spent a single turn at No. 89. “Sweet Caroline” hasn’t risen higher than No. 55–where it sits right now–since 2021. In July of that year, the hit climbed all the way to No. 20.
