Four-star  commits to Nebraska…

Two days after visiting Nebraska and seeing it defeat Colorado, in-state four-star linebacker Christian Jones committed to the Huskers. He becomes a major piece of their 2025 class.

WHAT CHRISTIAN JONES SAYS ABOUT NEBRASKA
“Coach (Matt) Rhule is building a culture that I want to be a part of,” Jones said.

Jones visited Nebraska the first two weeks of this season and, like many of the visitors for the Colorado game, was impacted by the environment.

“I think that was the loudest football game I’ve been to, very electric,” he said after.

WHO ELSE WAS IN THE MIX?
Jones was planning to visit Oklahoma next weekend. He took official visits with the Sooners, Auburn and USC.

HOW CHRISTIAN JONES FITS WITH NEBRASKA
Jones has said Nebraska will play him at WILL linebacker and much of what the Huskers ask their WILL backers to do, Jones already does at Westside including playing out in a lot of space. His track background allows him to handle the coverage tasks needed from that spot.Four-star LB Christian Jones commits to Nebraska

As far as fitting in a recruiting sense, Nebraska is continuing to do a good job of locking down their home-state, especially the blue-chippers. Jones had opportunities to go to any corner of the country and he explored those options, so it’s another notable win for Rhule and his staff. He was trending Nebraska any way, but this is also a show of how impactful the start to their season has been as many recruits have taken note of its 2-0 start, home-game atmosphere and success of young players on the roster.

Jones is the No. 1 player in Nebraska on three of the four major recruiting sites. He is 247Sports’ No. 21 linebacker and No. 204 overall prospect. The 247Sports Composite has him 19th among linebackers and 161st overall. There is a bit of a spread in the industry, as two sites have him in the national top 100 and one has him as a three-star. At 247Sports, we have split the difference with him as a four-star but not in the top 100.

WHAT WE THINK ABOUT CHRISTIAN JONES
Jones will play in January’s All-American Bowl, which 247Sports is a selection partner for, so we do think highly of him.

His versatility and track background of having run as fast as 10.89 in the 100 while also throwing shot and running a leg in the 4×100 shows what an athlete he is. He also has been productive. He had 20 catches for 500 yards and 9 TDs on 25.0 yards per reception, along with 55 tackles, 9 TFL, 1 INT, 1 FF, and 1 FR in 13 games as a junior.

He plays for a good high school and sees good competition as well.

247Sports national scouting analyst Gabe Brooks says the following:

“Multi-dimensional high school playmaker with heavy two-way snaps and special teams participation. Big outside receiver who also plays from the edge and off-ball linebacker, which is the highest long-term projection. Negative wing relative to height but a good build with some space to add more mass as desired. Strong combine testing data in the lateral suddenness category. Motor runs hot and reveals itself in pursuit. Displays good linear closing speed but can also redirect to rally. Could provide core special teams value early in college career. Displays functional strength as a defender with ability to play through contact with obvious core strength and body control.
