Michigan AD Warde Manuel addresses how Wolverines are responding to NCAA investigations, leaksI think it’s totally unacceptable and ridiculous that people who have the information or get information about what’s going on are leaking it to the press and to the public.

And we try to find it; we just don’t let it pass. We actively try to find where are these leaks coming from? And particularly if it’s on us. The problem is it’s hard to get to the bottom of it. Doesn’t mean we’re going to stop trying. Because it really does not help the process. It doesn’t help the University of Michigan to go through it. It doesn’t help the NCAA. Whoever is leaking it, it is not helping what we’re trying to do to try and resolve the cases. And to just put stuff out there — in some cases, some of it wrong; some of it I can’t respond to when it’s wrong. We are under a sense of not being able to talk about it publicly. But yet people are leaking things out there about the case. It is just disappointing and unnecessary and sad.

Michigan cannot comment publicly about ongoing investigations, but AD Warde Manuel spoke to The Michigan Insider on Wednesday morning about how he and his athletic department are approaching the NCAA.

Manuel first discussed the series of leaks about the investigations that have molded public narratives about the Wolverines. He also responded to questions about why Michigan hasn’t taken a more aggressive approach when dealing with the NCAA.
