Manager confirms Stoke City transfer talks ahead of deadline

Stoke City news from StokeonTrentLive as Swansea boss Michael Duff addresses Josh Tymon transfer talk

Swansea City boss Michael Duff has confirmed his interest in signing Josh Tymon from Stoke City ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

The Swans are reported to have made a £1.5million bid for Tymon. Duff has admitted he is a fan of the 24-year-old but added that “he’s not the only left-back we’ve been talking to”.

Amid speculation surrounding his future, Tymon played 90 minutes for Stoke on Tuesday night as they thrashed Rotherham United 6-1 in the second round of the Carabao Cup at the bet365 Stadium. In the Championship, he has made one start and one substitute appearance in four matches so far this season.

With 14 summer signings made already and more expected before the summer transfer window closes this week, there could also be departures from Alex Neil’s squad. And Duff addressed links to Tymon after Swansea’s cup defeat to Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

“If I told you about every bid we’ve had, and again, it’s boring,” he told our colleagues at WalesOnline. “We’ve had loads of bids turned down. We’ve had loads of bids accepted that have been turned down by the player in terms of personal terms.

“He (Tymon) is a left-back, and we need a left-back. So people can put two and two together quite a lot. I think he’s a good player. I’ve watched quite a lot of him. I watched him when he was a young lad coming through. But he’s not the only left-back we’ve been talking to.”
