Leicester To Seal Move For Turkish Winger

Leicester City are reportedly set to complete a deal to sign Turkish winger Yunus Akgün on a season-long loan, with the option of a permanent deal according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 23-year-old has spent almost his entire career with Galatasaray as well as making his international debut for Turkey but is now set to spend the next phase of his career with the Foxes, as they aim to push for the Championship title.

Who is Yunus Akgün?

The Turkish winger has made over 60 first-team appearances for Galatasaray, contributing to 14 goals. He’s also been capped five times by Turkey and has featured 70 times during two separate loan spells with fellow Turkish side Adana Demirspor, where he contributed to 36 goals which was over one every two matches.

The perfect start

Leicester City have had the perfect start to life back in the Championship, winning all three of their opening games as well as progressing in the EFL Cup. The Foxes began with a 2-1 win against local rivals Coventry City, before overcoming both Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City in recent matches.

The club also beat Burton Albion to reach the next round of the EFL Cup. With a new manager, several new players and a fresh enthusiasm surrounding the club, their start to the season has been the perfect start in their quest to return to the Premier League.

What’s been said?

According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal between Leicester City and Galatasaray has been sealed. The winger will join on loan with a buy option based solely on appearances. If he makes 25 appearances for the Foxes, then Leicester will have to purchase him for €10 million.

Writer’s View

Leicester have lost the likes of Harvey Barnes and James Maddison from their attacking line-up and have been in need of bolstering their options, which would be something that Akgün would help to strengthen.

The Foxes have had the perfect start to the campaign as they aim to push towards a return to the Premier League and a signing in the calibre of Akgün would definitely bolster their attacking options ahead of the remainder of the season.
