Leicester City Sign Keeper Mads Hermansen - Fosse PosseThe latest injury news from manager Enzo Maresca as he gives an update on the fitness of his squad ahead of the Championship clash with Cardiff City at the King Power Stadium

Mads Hermansen is pushing to return to the Leicester City squad to face Cardiff with Enzo Maresca to make a decision on the Dane after Friday afternoon’s session.

The summer signing managed just one competitive game for City before picking up a quad injury in training, an issue that has kept him out of the last two matches, his deputy Jakub Stolarczyk keeping clean sheets against Burton and Huddersfield.

But Hermansen could take back his position between the sticks when City host Cardiff on Saturday, looking for a history-making fourth straight win to kick off the campaign, something they have never done before.

“We have a session this afternoon and it depends how he is in the session,” manager Maresca said on Hermansen at his press conference on Friday. “Then we’ll take a decision.

If Hermansen is fit to return, that would leave City with just three players unavailable. Conor Coady is out until the end of September with a foot problem and goalkeeper Alex Smithies is also injured, with Kasey McAteer, who missed the win at Huddersfield, set for a spell on the sidelines too.

Maresca added: “Victor (Kristiansen) is back, Conor Coady is still out, Kasey McAteer is still out and that’s all. They are still doing some checks. It’s some problem in his foot. Hopefully next week, in 10 days, in two weeks, I don’t know, he can be back with us.”

There were no suggestions from Maresca that Casadei would not be available to feature, so the new Italian signing could make his debut on Saturday. He was a regular for Chelsea during pre-season and so should be match fit.
