Kasper Schmeichel ‘will arrive’ at new club amid Celtic link as contract details revealed

After leaving Nice on transfer deadline day, Kasper Schmeichel is thought to be on his way to Anderlecht.

After only one season, the former Leicester City goalkeeper quit the French club last Friday.

He was swiftly connected with a reunion with former Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers at Celtic, but according to Foot Mercato, the 36-year-old Dane “will arrive” at Anderlecht on a one-year contract.

Nice confirmed his departure in a statement on transfer deadline day.

“OGC Nice and Kasper Schmeichel have mutually agreed to terminate the Danish international’s contract,” it said.

“The 36-year-old goalkeeper joined Nice last summer and has made 46 appearances in all competitions for the club.”

“The club wishes him every success for the rest of his career.”
