Sheffield United and Leeds United had ‘interest’ in Nottingham Forest man during summer transfer window

Sheffield United and Leeds United reportedly registered interest in midfielder Jonjo Shelvey during the summer transfer window.

Despite only joining Forest in January, the 31-year-old is thought to be close to joining Turkish club Rizespor.

According to The Telegraph, Shelvey did receive offers from England, and Sheffield United, Leeds United, and Burnley all shown interest.

Shelvey has slipped down the pecking order at Forest and his last appearance for the club was back in April.

One of his final Forest appearances was at Elland Road, when Leeds defeated Steve Cooper’s team 2-1.

Despite the fact that neither Leeds nor Sheffield United signed Shelvey, both teams have strengthened their midfields.

Leeds made two late midfield acquisitions in the form of Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara.

Sheffield United signed free agent Tom Davies when he left Everton, and they also signed Anis Slimane, Vinicius Souza, and Gustavo Hamer.
