Bradford City boss provides updates on Tyreik Wright and Jake Young ahead of League Two trip to Wrexham

BRADFORD CITY manager Graham Alexander has ruled out winger Tyreik Wright ahead of Saturday’s scheduled League Two trip to home specialists Wrexham.

The 22-year-old, who came to City on loan from Championship team Plymouth Argyle during the winter transfer window, has only made one appearance thus far, on January 23 in a 1-1 tie with Salford City.

Wright has missed the team’s last two league games owing to an injury niggle that will keep him out of action for “the next couple of weeks.” Wright is returning to Valley Parade for a second loan term.

“He’s been on the grass with the medical team,” Alexander remarked. In reality, he hasn’t trained with us.

“He is not going to be in the team for the weekend.

It essentially follows the timeline that we initially believed.

“We were aware that the injury was not severe enough to pose a long-term risk, but it was sufficient to prevent him from working for a few weeks after it was sustained.

“We’re hoping that he keeps returning on schedule and on schedule.”

“Unfortunately, we’ve only had him for 60 minutes. We brought him here to improve our ammunition.”

Jake Young, meanwhile, is a serious doubt for the trip to the Racecourse Ground due to an ankle injury he suffered during AFC Wimbledon’s 0-0 draw with them last Saturday.

Alexander acknowledged that he had not yet trained this week in a statement on Wednesday afternoon.

“It’s not his hamstring,” the City leader continued. He got into a challenge right before he came off and damaged his ankle.

He hasn’t been able to workout this week due to an ankle injury; it has nothing to do with his hamstring.

“Our goal is to reduce the swelling so that we can maybe start exercising with him.

Since he is an explosive player, there is less of a risk than with a hamstring injury. But following Saturday’s game, there was a noticeable degree of unease.

“Sadly, he hasn’t participated in the training week either.”
