NRL giants set to sign Super League talent after major release

The Bulldogs are in a state of flux and are interested in signing the three May brothers including Taylan May from the Penrith Panthers, Terrell May from Sydney Roosters as well as Tyrone May from Hull KR in Super League.

They have made some big signings and could be about to do again now they have the salary cap space to make a move for a replacement.

After releasing Faitala-Mariner, the Bulldogs issued the following statement:

“Raymond Faitala-Mariner has been granted an immediate release from his contract with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

“The Club has agreed to terms with Faitala-Mariner, granting the release so he can take up an opportunity at another NRL Club.

“Faitala-Mariner has been a positive contributor to the Bulldogs both on and off the field. He has run out for the Club on 102 occasions and the Bulldogs would like to thank him for his hard work and commitment during his time at Belmore.

“The Club wishes him, and his family, all the best for the future.”

Canterbury set to move for Super League star

This leaves Canterbury Bulldogs with more space on the salary cap and in a position to sign a replacement.

They had made a move for Siua Tauekiaho from the Catalans Dragons ahead of the 2024 season which fell apart after it was believed that this move was almost guaranteed.

He was set to agree a two-year deal with the Bulldogs but their salary cap situation caused delays as did the fact the Dragons would not release him until a move was secured for the Tongan international.

Then a failed medical ended the interest but now with salary cap space, the Bulldogs are set to consider their options for the 2024 season as well as the 2025 season.
