Kieran Trippier says 26-year-old ‘machine’ is Newcastle’s best player in training

There are no surprises for guessing who Kieran Trippier has named as the best trainer at Newcastle United.

The 32-year-old has been speaking to Sky Sports’ official YouTube channel, and was asked to name the best player in training for Newcastle and for England.

For England, he went with Manchester City superstar Phil Foden. He tore us apart on Saturday night, and was instrumental in Man City beating Newcastle 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

The Newcastle midfield were unable to get to grips with Foden, who was given far too much space to work his magic and combine with Erling Haaland. It was a spectacular performance from him.

One player who he got the better of was Joelinton, who is the man Trippier named as Newcastle United’s best in training.

Kieran Trippier says Joelinton is Newcastle’s best trainer

Trippier was asked to name Newcastle’s best trainer by Sky Sports presenter Adam Smith, and was quick to go with the Brazilian.

“I’ll say Joelinton,” he said.

“Every single session he is an absolute machine.”

Exemplary attitude from Joelinton

It is no surprise to see Trippier go with Joelinton. Whenever a Newcastle player is asked a question like this, they rave about the 26-year-old.

The Brazilian plays with intensity no matter the occasion, and that is why he has developed into a key player for Eddie Howe. Whether it is training, a friendly or the biggest game of the season, you always get the same from Joelinton – which is obviously a good thing.

However, he was actually criticised by Howe during the game against Man City for not closing down, which was a rare error from the Magpies’ number seven.

He was later taken off, but that was because of injury rather than his performance.

Hopefully he is fit for the Liverpool game, as we will need Joelinton’s intensity in midfield to get a result against the Reds. The players will be eager to bounce back after the City defeat, which should lead to a step up in quality in training.

But Joelinton is not one who needs to step up in the eyes of Trippier, who thinks that big Joe is an ‘absolute machine’ on the training pitch.
