Charlton trigger Small’s one-year extension clause

Thierry Small will remain with League One Charlton Athletic through 2025 after the League One team activated his one-year extension clause.

The club has extended a “long-term” contract offer to the 19-year-old, according to Addicks technical director Andy Scott.

Small made his debut against Bolton Wanderers in February after relocating to The Valley.

The left-back, who came from Southampton, made 14 games in all.

After Michael Appleton was replaced as manager in February, Charlton ended the season nine points clear of relegation in the standings, with Nathan Jones taking over as manager.

“Since he joined us, he’s done really well,” Scott said on the external club website.

“We’ve made him a long-term contract offer, as we feel he has a lot of ability and potential.”
