JUST NOW: Tony Banks announces Genesis star phil collins is in big trouble with….I was never a show off!" - Tony Banks in The Prog Interview | Louder

Former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett has issued a health update after cancelling a performance in Phoenix, Arizona, due to a shock hospitalisation.

At the beginning of March, Hackett set out on tour across the United States to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Genesis album, Foxtrot. The extensive run of dates in the US was due to come to a close on April 13th at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, but will now be rescheduled for a later date following Hackett’s health scare.

Local promoter Danny Zelisko Presents has reassured ticket holders, stating, “If it doesn’t get rescheduled, obviously, people will be refunded their money. It will go right to the credit card the ticket was purchased on.”

On April 14th, Hackett took to his social media pages to share an image of him from his hospital bed, and to explain the circumstances behind the cancellation. “Hello everyone, I’m so sorry for the scare,” the guitarist began the message by saying.

The musician continued: “I’d hoped to power through the Phoenix show, but I had a bronchial infection and a last-minute adverse reaction to medication. Consequently, the medics took me to hospital. I am now recovering and glad to be feeling OK. I was very sad to miss the show and I will return to play in Phoenix as soon as possible.”

Hackett concluded his statement by writing, “My thanks to you all for your understanding and support. With warmest wishes, Steve.”

It remains unforeseen whether Hackett’s tour will resume in Guadalajara, Mexico, on April 17th. He’s also scheduled to perform in Mexico City on April 19th.

This summer, Hackett is set to take to the road across Europe, beginning in Paris on July 1st. Later this year, he’ll bring Foxtrot to venues across the United Kingdom, including London’s historic Royal Albert Hall and Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.

Hackett isn’t the only member of Genesis who is currently struggling with their health. Earlier this year, the guitarist provided an update regarding his former bandmate Phil Collins, who visibly struggled with mobility during the band’s farewell tour in 2022. “I mean, my God. I’ll always love Phil. Sorry, I’m without words. He doesn’t deserve what happened to him,” he remarked.

The comments by Hackett arrived after fello Genesis member Tony Banks revealed the band would never return to the stage again. “I don’t think there’s anything else left. The well is dry,” Banks said. “We can’t tour any more because of Phil’s state, so that’s the end of that.”
