Stoke City forward Sead Haksabanovic is pushing for a permanent exit from parent club Celtic within the next two transfer windows, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke from Football Insider.
The 24-year-old joined the Championship side on deadline day, after pushing for an exit from Celtic Park after receiving ‘mixed messages’ from club chiefs at the Scottish Premiership side.
Haksabanovic has made five appearances for Stoke City since arriving on loan and has managed to score his first goal for the club during Saturday’s Championship clash against Bristol City in which Stoke came from behind to win 3-2.
He also made two appearances for Celtic before being loaned out. However, the winger was left out of Montenegro’s squad during the September international break and hasn’t earned a cap since June.
The winger is currently under contract at Celtic Park until 2027 after arriving from Rubin Kazan last summer. However, he has struggled for game time for the Scottish champions.
Despite the return of Brendan Rodgers in the summer and the departure of Portuguese winger Jota, his game time has continued to decrease, causing plenty of frustration for the winger.
The Montenegro international has enjoyed a positive start to life at Stoke City, starting the club’s last three Championship matches and contributing to two goals in the process.
Whether Stoke City would be interested in completing a permanent deal does remain to be seen. He’s with the club until the end of the season regardless and cost Celtic €2.5 million which is affordable for Alex Neil’s side.
With the winger pushing for a permanent exit, it does increase the likelihood that his loan deal could be cut short in January unless Stoke City can persuade otherwise.
The 24-year-old is a talented young player but it appears as though he isn’t in the plans under Brendan Rodgers which is likely to add further fuel to his exit.
