Insider Drops Major Injury Update on Georgia’s …
The good news for the Georgia Bulldogs is they have a bye in the first round of the College Football Playoff, meaning they have to win one fewer game than eight of the other teams in the CFP field to claim the national championship.
The bad news, however, is that they may have to win that national championship without their starting quarterback.
Carson Beck went down with a shoulder injury on the final play of the second quarter of the SEC Championship game as he attempted a desperation heave from near midfield but his throwing arm was struck by Texas linebacker Trey Moore.
Though Georgia hoped to have him back after the Sugar Bowl, where it’ll face the winner of No. 7 Notre Dame versus No. 10 Indiana, things don’t appear to be getting better regarding Beck’s recovery as Matt Zenitz of 247Sports recently reported that UGA is bracing to be without Beck for the entirety of the CFP.
“Can confirm via sources that that Carson is expected to miss the remainder of the season and that Gunner Stockton is set to be Georgia’s starting QB in the College Football Playoff,” Zenitz wrote.
