Rayan Ait-Nouri’s injury is not thought to be serious, according to Gary O’Neil.

The Algerian was forced off in Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Liverpool at Molineux.

Ait-Nouri had been playing exceptionally well for Wolves.

He had dealt effectively with Mo Salah, one of the league’s greatest players, as he has done several times since joining Wolves.

Ait-Nouri went down holding his leg shortly after the hour mark, after Cody Gakpo had equalized for Liverpool.

He was replaced by Hugo Bueno, who would go on to score an unlucky own goal.

Following the game, O’Neil provided an update on Ait-Nouri…

Gary O’Neil believes Rayan Ait-Nouri will be OK.
There were fears for Ait-Nouri, who has started the current season well following a difficult end to the previous one.

In his post-match press conference, O’Neil sought to allay concerns.

“Rayan’s injury was really just muscle fatigue,” he stated of the 22-year-old. I don’t anticipate any issues with him.

“We won’t know until next weekend, but he’ll probably just need a few days to recover.”

So far, Ait-Nouri has started four of Wolves’ five Premier League games.

And in the one game he didn’t start, he came on at halftime against Everton.

It’s evident that O’Neil has taken an early interest in the £10 million teenager, which is encouraging given his troubles earlier this year.

Fortunately, Ait-Nouri’s problem is minor.

Bueno provides strong cover for the Wolves if he is unavailable.

But Ait-Nouri has had a good start to the season, and O’Neill will almost certainly start him against Luton Town this weekend.

Ait-Nouri is one of the Wolves’ most promising young players.

It didn’t happen for him under Julen Lopetegui, but he appears to be having fun under O’Neil, and perhaps he can improve his game this season.
