‘He’s evolved’: Kieran Trippier says £50m Man City player looks faster than he ever has right now

Kieran Trippier has said that he loves watching Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker play.

The two full-backs are set to face off against each other this evening as Newcastle United travel to the Etihad Stadium for their second game of the new Premier League campaign.

Ahead of tonight’s clash, the Toon captain has been sharing his thoughts on Walker and shared some heavy praise for him.

Speaking in a recent interview posted on the Sky Sports Premier League YouTube channel, Trippier had this to say when asked who he thinks the best right-back in the world is right now.

He said: “It’s a tough one that because you’ve obviously got Walks, Reece [James], Trent [Alexander-Arnold].

“I really love watching Walks play because since he went from Tottenham to Man City, he’s evolved into an even stronger player, faster.”

City signed the right-back, who captained Pep Guardiola’s side in their recent Super Cup victory over Sevilla, during the 2017 summer transfer window in a deal worth £50m.

Since then, the England international has gone on to make 257 appearances for the Manchester club prior to tonight’s clash against the Magpies, scoring six goals and delivering 18 assists along the way.

Bearing in mind how desperate Guardiola and the club were to keep hold of the 33-year-old this summer after he was heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich, this shows how valuable and significant he is for the squad.

With Trippier mentioning how much Walker has improved himself and his game since his days at Spurs, this, in addition to the significant number of trophies he’s won, this is further proof of how much of a successful time he’s had under Guardiola at the Manchester club.
