Ally McCoist admits he was totally wrong about £100m player who Ange Postecoglou wants at Tottenham

Ally McCoist has admitted that he was completely incorrect about Tottenham Hotspur target Evan Ferguson.

McCoist admitted on talkSPORT this morning that his prior £25 million valuation of the Brighton forward was possibly incorrect.

Spurs were looking for a new striker this summer after losing their former talisman Harry Kane.

Ange Postecoglou eventually chose to bring in two wide forwards, Manor Solomon and Brennan Johnson, the latter of whom can also play across the middle.

Spurs could yet sign a more direct striker in the future, with Evan Ferguson a possible target.

Indeed, Postecoglou is thought to be a big fan of the Brighton player and has him penciled in as a future target.

And McCoist has conceded that he was mistaken about the price of the child previously.

McCoist on Tottenham-linked Ferguson

Andy Townsend of talkSPORT slammed McCoist for earlier claiming Ferguson is only worth £25 million.

“A fortnight is a long time in football, as we all know, and you were asked about Evan Ferguson a couple of weeks ago and you said ‘good player,'” he remarked. You mentioned he’s worth around £25 million. “Are you still satisfied with that?”

“It’s gone up since the weekend,” remarked McCoist. “I have to be honest with you. As you say, a fortnight is a long time in football, and I still remember the day before the hat-trick.”

“But isn’t it great to see a young kid come through and bat a hat-trick?” he continued.

Ferguson, of course, scored three goals against Newcastle on Saturday, helping Brighton to a 3-1 victory over Eddie Howe’s team.

This season, the Irish striker has scored four goals in as many Premier League appearances.

To fight off interest from a slew of big teams, the Seagulls have reportedly plastered a £100 million price tag on the youngster’s head.

Ferguson appears to be on the verge of a major transfer in the coming years, but it remains to be seen whether Tottenham will increase their interest.
