Former Sea Eagles versatile playmaker set to join new club

“I’ve gained some amazing memories in this jersey which I’ll never forget.”

After officially announcing his departure from the Wigan Warriors after a two-year contract, former Manly Sea Eagles forward Cade Cust is expected to sign with a new team.

Cust, who joined the Warriors from the Manly Sea Eagles prior to the 2022 season, announced his retirement from the team earlier this week.

The 26-year-old did have the opportunity to extend his contract with the team, but the Wigan Warriors chose not to do so since Brad O’Neill, the hooker, and Bevan French, the 2023 Man of Steel winner, have taken up his key responsibilities.

According to League Express, Cust is reportedly ready to sign with the Salford Red Devils after

“He dedicated himself all to our Club. He has always put the team’s needs ahead of his own disappointment, so you never know in the locker rooms after a game if he participated or not.

He went on, “The attitude he showed by playing for the Reserve Team instead of the First Team builds Clubs and he is an outstanding example to younger players.”

“I have complete faith that his teammates would attest to his strong character. He is a guy you would want to catch up with for a beer, and he will always be treated with the utmost respect in our club.”He dedicated his life to our Club. In the locker rooms following each match,

Cust wrote on Instagram, “I want to say a huge thank you to Wigan Warriors for the past two years, to the coaching staff, the players, and most importantly, the fans.”

“I’ve enjoyed every moment and have made some lifelong mates along the way which I’ll be forever grateful for.

“I’ve gained some amazing memories in this jersey which I’ll never forget.

Since making his debut in Round 10, 2019, the Scone-born Sea Eagle has appeared for the Manly Sea Eagles on 27 different times. At the start of the 2021 season, he scored 36 points while playing for the Indigenous All Stars.
