Sky Sports presenter raves about ‘exceptional’ West Ham United as transfer news emerges

Dougie Critchley has raved about the transfer business West Ham have conducted so far this summer as they look to strengthen their squad.

The Sky Sports host tweeted on 25 August that he had been worried about the Hammers a few weeks ago following a slow start to their transfer window.

But he has been impressed by the Irons’ “exceptional midfield rebuild”, having secured the signings of Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse, while the club are also looking likely to confirm the addition of Mohammed Kudus after agreeing a deal with Ajax on 25 August.

Fortunes improving

The Hammers’ fortunes have certainly not been hiding in recent weeks after securing a couple of excellent pieces of business following the sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal.

The club’s hierarchy was rather slow to get into gear after the former captain’s big-money move but with three signings through the door and Kudus on the verge of making the move to East London, that has quickly changed.

Critchley highlighted that the deals for the Ghanaian, as well as Alvarez and Ward-Prowse, will cost the club £1.7million less than they received for Rice.

That does indeed mark exceptional business as it is three quality signings that will each provide something different for David Moyes this season.

The squad was perhaps lacking in depth across a couple of areas to be able to compete in Europe alongside the Premier League during the last campaign so, hopefully, these signings can help us push up the table again this season.
