Everton considered move for £15m player compared to Ronaldo this summer, but he was too old

This summer, Everton explored acquiring Southampton striker Che Adams, but were concerned about his age.

More information concerning Everton’s summer transfer efforts has been revealed by The Athletic.

Sean Dyche would have spent the majority of the summer wondering if he would ever buy another striker.

Everton have struggled to score goals for several years, owing to injuries and a lack of form.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has played just 37 league minutes this season after suffering a severe head injury against Aston Villa after regaining fitness.

Both Neal Maupay and Thomas Cannon left towards the end of the window, with Youssef Chermiti heading to Goodison Park.

Beto was the striker they eventually decided to sign, and he’s already making an impression.

Everton, on the other hand, considered Che Adams but had reservations.

The £15 million forward ended up staying at Southampton and should be a tremendous force in the Championship.

Everton considered move for Adams

According to The Athletic, Sean Dyche made bolstering Everton’s attack a top priority.

Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison have joined Beto and Chermiti in providing fascinating alternatives across the board.

Che Adams, according to The Athletic, was explored as a forward possibility, but they ‘were keen to find a younger player with resale value’.

Given that Adams is only 27 years old, this seems like a severe critique.

A few of successful seasons at Everton would have seen Adams at the very least retain his value, if not perhaps turn a profit for the club.

However, it is a concerning mindset that Everton is in a situation where they only want to sign individuals who will make them money rather than those who will be the best fit for the squad.

Che Adams has been likened to Brazilian Ronaldo in the past, with former teammate Matt Baker remarking, “He reminds me a little bit of the old Ronaldo.”

“He had that raw talent.” He wasn’t lightning fast, but he was powerful and strong.

“He could brush people off and go right through them.” And he always had a satisfying ending.”

Everton may not have regarded Adams on the same level as Ronaldo, or else a bid would have been made.

Beto is now under enormous pressure to lead the line, since Dyche cannot rely on Calvert-Lewin to play consistently this season.

So far, the 25-year-old has performed admirably and will be eager to get back into the league following the international break.
