Everton transfer news: January exit updates emerge as Beto could leave already

Beto could be a January target for AC Milan as an Everton exit is reportedly on the cards already, according to Fanta Master.

The Italian outlet reported via their website on 30 November that the Portuguese is a player which the Rossoneri have long been following, and with his move to Goodison Park deemed a “real disappointment” so far, a loan to the San Siro apparently can’t be ruled out.

Although there has reportedly been no contact as yet between the Toffees and the Serie A giants Milan are tipped to be “vigilant” towards the situation, although a return to former side Udinese is considered “completely out of the question at the moment”.

Beto scored on his debut in the Carabao Cup on 30 August but hasn’t netted since, including in eight Premier League appearances, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s form and fitness has so far held up.

Unlikely

Yes, Beto would probably like to be playing more often and scoring more regularly but it seems far too early for his move to be considered a failure yet, especially when he would have known his star teammate was number one when available.

Calvert-Lewin’s availability has meant the new arrival hasn’t been expected to lead the line as much as he might otherwise have been, and in a recent interview he gave a glowing assessment of his current situation.

So while they may well be interest from Milan’s side it surely isn’t going to get very far on Merseyside if they decide to act on it, and there appears to be little pressure from the player’s side to leave.

Finishing is proving to be an issue throughout Sean Dyche’s squad so far this season as the 3-0 home defeat to Manchester United last week was arguably the fourth Goodison loss from a game where the performance had been good enough for a victory.

Calvert-Lewin himself only has four strikes in all competitions, so the scoring rate is certainly something that could improve across the board.

But, despite the turmoil of a points deduction and a return to the bottom three, the Toffees’ form has been pretty good on the whole.

The situation could certainly change with Beto if his drought goes on a lot longer, but for now it doesn’t feel like the same sort of struggle that Neal Maupay was having last season at a time when there was far more pressure on him.

Everton waited a long time to finally sign a striker who could adequately stand in for Calvert-Lewin if his injury problems were to return and it seems extremely unlikely that they would let him go anywhere in the next window.
